Tianshannet-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Fan Feifei) news: China's Xinjiang witnessed a significant surge in tourist arrivals and revenue in 2023.
According to local authorities, Xinjiang welcomed 265.44 million domestic and international tourist arrivals in 2023, marking an impressive year-on-year increase of 117.04 percent. Total tourism revenue reached 296.72 billion yuan, up 226.93 percent from the previous year.
“In 2023, Xinjiang spurred cultural and tourism consumption with a raft of new tour packages,” said Zhou Hao, an official of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. They included desert-theme tours, travel packages targeting children, road trips, camping, skiing trips and tours theming health preservation or industrial experience.
"This is my first time coming to Altay for skiing. It feels really great, and I don’t want to leave," said Chen Xinghong, a tourist from Shanghai.
