Press center for the "Two Sessions" of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region opens in Urumqi

Tianshannet-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Guan Mengying, Fan Feifei) news: The press center established for the first time during the "Two Sessions" of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has been launched on January 28, 2024, with the online press center launched simultaneously, releasing news and providing various kinds of interview services for domestic and foreign journalists.

The Second Session of the 14th People's Congress of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Second Session of the 13th Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the CPPCC are scheduled for opening in Urumqi on January 30 and January 29, 2024, respectively. At present, there are 217 Chinese and foreign journalists registered to report “Two Sessions” of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. A total of 217 journalists have registered to cover the annual event. Among them, there are 36 ones from China’s central media outlets, 157 from local ones, 20 from China’s Hong Kong, Macao, and four from foreign countries.

The press center is at Xinjiang Daily (Group), and the online press center is accessible at Tianshannet and Shiliuyun app. It offers two press briefing areas, and three studios among other facilities, as well as a wide range of support services for both domestic and international journalists, including interview coordination, internet access, photocopying, and faxing.

The online press center is open to all media and has a dedicated area for journalists. It will timely release conference agendas, notices, and other conference-related information, providing news products such as text, images, and videos. In addition to reporting in Chinese, Uygur, and Kazak, it also offers English and Russian coverage.

In order to help both domestic and foreign journalists better understand Xinjiang, the press center has set up a reading area, offering more than 10 newspapers and magazines from Xinjiang in six languages, including Xinjiang Daily, Xinjiang Today, Daluqiao magazine, and Youlin magazine. The Shiliuyun app, the official mobile app of Xinjiang Daily, is also on display.
