Tianshannet-Xinjiang Daily (Guo Qian) news: The press conference of the Second Session of the 14th People's Congress of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Second Session of the 13th Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the CPPCC was held at the press center for the regional “Two Sessions” in Urumqi, northwest China’s Xinjiang, on January 28, 2024.
It is the first time that a press center is set up for the regional annual “Two Sessions.” Mailiyan Simayi, the spokesperson for the Second Session of the 14th People's Congress of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Zhang Xu, the spokesperson for the Second Session of the 13th Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the CPPCC, briefed the media respectively, on the system of the people's congresses, the system of multiparty cooperation and political consultation, and the performance of duties by the deputies to the autonomous region's people's congress and the members of the CPPCC Xinjiang regional committee.
According to the spokespersons, the Second Session of the 14th People's Congress of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is set to commence on January 30, 2024, and will extend over a duration of four days; and the Second Session of the 13th Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the CPPCC is scheduled to begin on January 29, 2024, and will span three and a half days.

The “Two Sessions” of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have invited officials from the embassies of Member States, Observer States, and dialogue partner countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as well as representatives from the SCO Secretariat and the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation Institute for the first time. During the “Two Sessions,” more press conferences have been scheduled at the press center.
A total of 88 Chinese and foreign journalists attended the press conference. They are from eight Chinese central media outlets including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Media Group, Guangming Daily, Economic Daily and China Daily; local media outlets in Xinjiang, such as Xinjiang Daily/Shiliuyun, Xinjiang Radio and Television Station, Urumqi Evening News, Urumqi Radio and Television Station, and Asia Center Times; 10 Hong Kong and Macao media outlets, such as Radio Television Hong Kong, South China Morning Post, Phoenix Satellite TV and Macao Daily News; and four foreign media organizations including Anadolu Agency of Türkiye, ANTARA National News Agency of Indonesia, Straits Times of Singapore and Kazakhstan News Agency.

The press conference was simultaneously livestreamed on the online press center of the autonomous region's “Two Sessions” on Tianshannet, the Shiliuyun app, the Xinjiang Radio and Television Station app, the "Xinjiang Release" account on Wechat and Weibo, and the new media platforms of convergence media centers of various prefectures, cities and counties in Xinjiang, in forms of image-text and video.
