The regional GDP of NW China’s Xinjiang shall increase by about 6.5 percent in 2024

Tianshannet-Xinjiang Daily (Fan Feifei) news: The second session of the 14th People's Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region began on Jan 30, 2024, at the Xinjiang People's Hall in Urumqi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Erkin Tuniyaz, Chairman of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, delivered the report on the work of the government.

According to the government report, the key targets for economic and social development in 2024 are as follows: The regional GDP shall increase by about 6.5 percent; the added value of industries above designated size shall increase by about eight percent; fixed asset investment shall increase by about 10 percent; the total retail sales of consumer goods shall increase by about eight percent; the total import and export shall increase by about 20 percent; the general public budget revenue shall increase by around 10 percent; more than 460,000 new urban jobs shall be created, and the surveyed urban unemployment rate shall be kept below 5.5 percent; the per capita disposable income of urban residents shall increase by about 6.5 percent; and the per capita disposable income of rural residents shall increase by about 7.5 percent; consumer prices shall grow by about three percent; energy conservation and emission reduction indicators shall reach relevant targets set by the national authorities, and the quality of the ecological environment shall continue to improve.
