Li Guoliang, a member of the 13th Xinjiang Committee of the CPPCC and secretary of leading Party members group of the Education Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, informed at the press conference that, in recent years, Xinjiang's annual spending on education has totaled more than RMB 100 billion yuan, accounting for more than one-sixth of the region's general public budget expenditure. It is widely believed in Xinjiang that school buildings are the most splendid buildings. Xinjiang has been working to narrow the education gaps between urban and rural areas, and among various regions, schools and groups. And the result is that more and more young children are now receiving better education. Xinjiang has set up a financial aid system that covers students at all stages of schooling, from pre-school to post-graduate education, benefiting more than six million students of all ethnic groups every year.
