10,828 grassroots medical and health institutions in Xinjiang

Tianshannet-Xinjiang Daily (Guo Ling) news: On February 1, 2024, the third press conference for the second session of the 14th People's Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the second session of the 13th Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the CPPCC was held at the press center in Urumqi City, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to brief the media on human rights achievements in Xinjiang and efforts in law-based governance of Xinjiang, as well as answering questions from the press.

According to He Yonghui, secretary of leading Party members group and deputy director of the Health Commission of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, there are 10,828 grassroots medical and health institutions in Xinjiang, all township-level and village-level medical and health institutions have met health standards, and all the village clinics have achieved settlement of medical bills through basic medical insurance accounts. All medical and health institutions at the grassroots level have completed the construction of TCM centers, which can provide characteristic traditional Chinese medicine services such as acupuncture therapy and health rehabilitation for grassroots communities, making it more convenient for the masses to seek medical treatment. The per capita government subsidies for basic public health services in Xinjiang have increased from RMB74 in 2020 to RMB89 in 2023, and resident health records for people of all ethnic groups have been created, together with the provision of basic public health services such as health education, immunization, and health management for key populations, so that the delivery of comprehensive lifecycle health services for residents has been ensured.
