On March 1, 2024, a consensus was reached during trilateral talks in Kashi, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to expedite the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan (CKU) railway project. The meeting brought together representatives from China’s Xinjiang, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, marking a significant milestone in the development of this highly anticipated railway line. Its goal is to enhance trade connections between Xinjiang and the regions of Central and West Asia, promoting the objectives of the Belt and Road Initiative.
