Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Ma Yining) news: On March 31, the civil aviation industry in China will usher in the flight season change for summer 2024. The total number of flights at the 24 airports that Xinjiang Airport Group manages is expected to reach 1,387 daily.

When the season change for summer 2024 begins, the total number of daily flights at the 24 airports will increase by 235 compared to the winter season of 2023, with an increase of 122 flights per day compared to the same period in 2023. And among them, Urumqi Diwopu International Airport is expected to have a daily domestic flight volume o 543 flights per day, an increase of 24 flights per day compared to the winter season of 2023, connecting with 67 cities within and outside Xinjiang nationwide. At that time, there will be more than 10 flights per day from Urumqi to Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Beijing, Lanzhou, Shanghai, and Wuhan.
During the summer aviation season, international air routes in Xinjiang have been further enriched, connecting with 14 foreign cities. Urumqi International Airport is estimated to have 10 international flights per day, an increase of four flights per day compared to the same period in 2023 and an increase of six flights per day compared to the winter season of 2023. Kashi Laining International Airport will add one international flight to Islamabad of Pakistan per week.
After the season change, 16 regional airports will offer direct flights to cities outside Xinjiang, including newly-added routes to popular tourist destinations, such as Haikou and Ordos, allowing passengers from various regions to fly directly to 41 cities outside Xinjiang without transferring in Urumqi. The planned number of regional direct flights to cities outside Xinjiang daily is 139, with a focus on increasing the frequency of flights to popular cities outside Xinjiang, such as Chengdu, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Yinchuan, and Beijing.
Meanwhile, the daily estimated number of flights between various regional airports is expected to reach 169, an increase of 50 flights per day compared to the winter season of 2023. This includes the addition of nine interconnecting flight routes between Altay, Fuyun, Narat, Karamay and other cities that are home to China's 5A tourists attractions.
