An inheritor of intangible cultural heritage introduces pyrography works at an apricot blossom festival in Nanhu Village of Xia Town, Toksun County, Turpan Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

On March 20, 2024, tourists experienced the charm of Turpan's intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and praised it at the apricot blossom festival event in Nanhu Village of Xia Town, Toksun County, Turpan Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Inheritors of intangible cultural heritage showcased various traditional skills on site, attracting many tourists to watch and experience. The skills on display are not often seen in everyday life, and the stories behind the intangible cultural heritage were even more fascinating.

At the booth of stamped fabric, tourists picked up wooden molds and printed their favorite patterns on the homespun; at the booth of wickerwork products, the inheritors of intangible cultural heritage enthusiastically introduced their products to tourists; and the booth of pottery product displayed pottery bowls, cups, and other products with a simple and natural design, attracting many tourists to purchase.

 " Seeing these pyrographs, I found them very unique. They use soldering iron to depict scenery, animals, and portraits of people, showing a different kind of beauty." said Zhu Zhimei, a tourist from Shihezi.

"I feel a great sense of achievement when I see that people like my pyrography works. I will better inherit intangible cultural heritage, and let it shine more charming," said Keram Rezak, an intangible cultural heritage inheritor at the municipal level in Turpan.

Intangible cultural heritage products, exhibitions and stories not only light up the apricot blossom festival, but also enhance the cultural connotation of the festival, allowing tourists to have a deeper understanding of Turpan's rich and colorful history and culture.
