In the first two months of 2024, the international business volume and the business volume of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in Xinjiang reached 161,3000 items, and the overseas express delivery volume in Urumqi accounted for more than 90 percent across Xinjiang. According to the analysis of relevant personnel of the Urumqi Post Bureau, the rapid growth of overseas express business volume in Urumqi is due to the further play of the advantages of international postal routes, the increase of the proportion of express goods in land transportation and China-Europe Railway Express services, and the decrease of air transport costs compared with previous years, which promotes the increase of international freight forwarding business.

At the same time, as the main force handling Xinjiang's international mail packages, in the first two months of 2024, the Urumqi International Mail Exchange Bureau handled 939,000 pieces of international mail, of which inbound mail increased by 232.1 percent year on year.

According to Ma Ling, who is in charge of the Urumqi International Mail Exchange Bureau, the increase in international business and the business of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in the first two months is thanks to the establishment of the China (Xinjiang) Free Trade Zone, and good policies and business environment promoting business exchanges at home and abroad. On the other hand, people sending holiday gifts to each other at home and abroad and the sales promotion of e-commerce platforms around the Spring Festival stimulated consumers' purchasing.
