On April 19, 2024, the 2024 World Tunnel Congress themed "Tunnelling for a Better Life" kicked off in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

This marks the second time the World Tunnel Congress has been held in China after 34 years. According to specialists, China has become the country with the most tunnels, the largest scale of construction, and the fastest rate of development in the world.

Even among China's numerous tunnel construction achievements, the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel is still particularly eye-catching. The 22.13-kilometer-long tunnel, which is currently the longest highway tunnel under construction in the world, passes through the Tianshan Mountains, making it possible to travel through what was once impassable.
