On June 12, 2024, the International Forum on “The History and Future of Xinjiang, China” was held in Kashi City, northwest China’s Xinjiang. More than 100 experts from China, the United States, Australia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and other countries gathered together to carry out in-depth discussions on the theme of Xinjiang's history and future, from the four aspects of Xinjiang's archaeology and the pluralistic integration of the Chinese nation, the plurality of Xinjiang's history and Chinese culture, the ideas of the Western Regions and exchanges between Eastern and Western civilizations, and Xinjiang's development and Chinese-style modernization.

Erkin Tuniyaz, deputy secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Regional Committee and also chairman of the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, gave an opening speech at the opening ceremony of the forum. He extended sincere welcome to the experts and scholars who research into Xinjiang’s history and the cultures of Xinjiang’s ethnic groups, as well as the leaders and experts from various countries.
Shakhrat Nuryshev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to China, noted at his opening speech that in the development of bilateral relations, Kazakhstan and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China have reached a new level of interaction. “Kazakhstan is ready to further expand multifaceted cooperation with Xinjiang, China,” said Ambassador Shakhrat Nuryshev.
The forum will hold roundtable forums this afternoon to further promote exchanges in international academic field, the research results of archaeology, history and other fields in Xinjiang, as well as boost the historical and cultural research of Xinjiang, and deepen the exchange and mutual learning between civilizations.
