Regular flights from Urumqi to Armenia about to open

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Ma Yining) news: According to China Southern Airlines, flights between Urumqi and Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, will be opened on September 3, 2024, which is the first regular flight between China and Armenia.

The opening of the new air route will greatly facilitate the cultural and tourism exchanges as well as business cooperation between the two countries, meeting the travel needs of the two peoples. In addition, with the opening of the flight, China will achieve full navigation with the three Caucasus countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia).

It is understood that with flight number CZ5091/2, running every Tuesday and Saturday, the flights will be operated by B737-800 series aircraft, which can provide more than 300 seats in round trips. The outbound flight CZ5091 will depart Urumqi at 16:00 and arrive in Yerevan at 17:35 local time. The return flight CZ5092 will take off from Yerevan at 21:50 local time and arrive at Urumqi at 7:00, which only takes five hours.

This year, China Southern Airlines has taken the opportunity to build the Urumqi international aviation hub to continue to encrypt the layout of the international route network in Central and West Asia. At present, 17 international/regional air lines have been opened in Xinjiang, involving 12 countries or regions. In the first half of 2024, China Southern Airlines carried more than 230,000 international passengers in Xinjiang, an increase of 146 percent year-on-year.
