ULAN BATOR, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia has created a giant national flag for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games to support its athletes and promote the landlocked country to the world.

According to a statement from the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, more than 30 athletes are expected to compete in nine sports at the Olympic Games.

The flag, covering an area of 44,777 square feet (4,160 square meters), was stretched out at Bogd Khan mountain located in Ulan Bator on Friday, aiming to set a new Guinness World Record.

According to social media in Mongolia, workers struggled to keep it firmly planted on the ground because of windy weather and had to use small sandbags.
