Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Shi Xin) news: A new all-cargo air route was launched on August 19, between Urumqi, the capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Bournemouth city, Britain.
It was learnt that the cargo charter flight transported a total of 58.38 tons of cross-border e-commerce export goods. It was operated by an A340-600 aircraft from a European cargo airline and took approximately 10 hours to reach Bournemouth. The plan is to conduct four flights per week.

According to Wan Xiang, Executive Director and General Manager of Xinjiang Shangwu Airlines Development Co., Ltd., this route marks the company's third international all-cargo airline route, following the establishment of routes to Tbilisi and Budapest. He further emphasized that this route will provide an annual round-trip capacity of approximately 30,000 tons. Moving forward, the company aims to enhance the development of its multimodal transport brand 'Tianshan' and establish an aviation logistics freight system catering to Central Asia, Europe, and even Africa.
This year, leveraging the construction opportunities of China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Urumqi aviation port has demonstrated a consistent growth in import and export cargo volume. According to customs data from Urumqi Diwopu International Airport, the import and export cargo volume of the airport reached 7,515 tons in the first half of this year, marking a significant increase of 216.1 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
The Urumqi Diwopu International Airport currently operates 8 international cargo routes to countries including Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
