During the National Day holiday, Shufu County in Kashi Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang, hosted a vibrant celebration of its intangible cultural heritages. The event captivated tourists from all over the world, offering them a unique opportunity to deeply engage with the rich and enchanting local traditions and customs.

The ethnic musical instrument village of Shufu County in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region hosted cultural and tourism activities that brought together intangible cultural heritages, cultural experiences, and immersive performances, drawing in tourists from numerous places. During a recent visit, a group of tourists had the opportunity to explore various musical instrument workshops, gaining insight into the production process and intricate details of hand drums, Dutar, Rawap, Satar, and other musical instruments. The workshop's handmade musical instruments are renowned for their pure sound quality, exquisite patterns, and impeccable craftsmanship, making them highly sought after for both practical use and collection purposes.

Jiang Xiaowei, a tourist from central China's Hunan Province, said: "The handcrafted musical instruments here are stunning. I captured photos to share with my friends. Here, we not only listened to the music but also experienced the tradition and innovation."

Craftsmen were hard at work in the handicraft workshop, skillfully using planes, chisels, and sandpaper to make the instruments. Each musical instrument holds the wisdom and painstaking efforts of these craftsmen. Tourists came to the musical instrument village to witness the intricate process of crafting handmade musical instruments and to listen to the beautiful music.

Li Hongxia, a tourist from Urumqi, shared her thoughts after listening to the musical performance: "Every note represents the yearning and pursuit of a better life. In the timbre of musical instruments, I feel the beauty of intangible cultural heritage, tradition, and craftsmanship."

The preservation of traditional crafts in the musical instrument village not only boosts cultural confidence but also brings tangible economic benefits to villagers. The establishment of musical instrument workshops and museums provides villagers with opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.

"By playing and singing, we bring the ethnic musical instruments to life and let tourists hear the unique sound of these instruments," said Yusufian Juma, a craftsman from Shufu County.
