On October 28, 2024, groups of ibexes appeared in Wulukeqiati Township, Wuqia County, Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. They forage leisurely on this vast land.
As a species under national second-class protection, Ibex is also a representative of alpine animals. It often inhabits bare rocks on the plateau and rugged areas on the mountainside at an altitude of 3500-6000 meters. They have excellent climbing ability and can move freely between steep cliffs.
In recent years, Wuqia County has continuously strengthened the protection of the ecological environment, through a series of measures such as afforestation, soil erosion control, and strengthening the publicity of wildlife protection, providing a more suitable living environment for rare wild animals such as ibex. The appearance of a large number of ibex is a strong proof of the continuous improvement of the ecological environment in Wuqia County.
