Recently, delegates attending the 6th World Media Summit visited Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. At the shore of Sayram Lake, media professionals from around the world watched local performances showcasing intangible cultural heritage projects, enjoyed the natural scenery of Sayram Lake, and conducted interviews to learn about the development of the local cultural tourism industry.
Rub Nawaz, director of the Chinese News and Video News Service at the Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation, said in an interview with InXinjiang, "Xinjiang's tourism and culture deserve to be known by everyone in the world. That's the responsibility of our journalists, we need to tell everyone that in Xinjiang, you can experience all the beauty on Earth."
When discussing the fabrications by some Western media that "Xinjiang is a very closed place" and "there are many restrictions and problems in Xinjiang," Rub Nawaz said, "The reports by Western media are completely different from the facts." In his view, China is developing rapidly, and Xinjiang, as a part of China, is also doing the same. He believes that any professional journalist with journalistic ethics will base their reporting on objective facts and remain unbiased. "In the next few years, all the false reports against Xinjiang will be finished. Western media that defame Xinjiang will lose their credibility!" said Rub Nawaz.
