InXinjiang ㉟丨When a Filipino youth arrives in Xinjiang with preconceptions

Recently, 38 international students from Beijing Normal University who participated in the study tour titled "Understanding Contemporary China and Perceiving Open Xinjiang" concluded their 9-day journey in China’s Xinjiang. During their stay in Xinjiang, the students visited Urumqi City, Shihezi City, Karamay City, and the Altay Prefecture, conducting in-depth studies at enterprises, schools, villages, and scenic spots.

Nilo, an international student from the Philippines pursuing a Ph.D. in Education at Beijing Normal University, admitted that before coming to Xinjiang, he believed the negative reports about the region by Western media to be factual. However, upon arriving in Xinjiang, he found that what he saw firsthand was vastly different from the media's portrayal that he had previously trusted. He was deeply impressed by Xinjiang's development and the freedom of religious belief enjoyed by its people. He said that he would tell his students that Xinjiang is a nice place.
