On November 23, "The History and Development of Xinjiang, China, Symposium on the Governance of Xinjiang by the Central Authorities of China" was held in Xinjiang. Over 200 experts and scholars from both China and abroad engaged in multidimensional, interdisciplinary, and comprehensive exchanges on topics such as the historical experience and insights from the governance of Xinjiang by the central authorities.
David Ferguson, honorary chief English editor of the Foreign Languages Press at China International Communication Group, stated in his keynote speech that the smears and fabrications of Xinjiang by anti-China forces in the West, including the United States, are all groundless and absurd. Ferguson, who comes from the United Kingdom, expressed that by fabricating false narratives such as "genocide and forced labor in Xinjiang," Western media harbor delusions of containing China's development and the development of its Xinjiang. In Ferguson's view, the methodology employed by western media outlets to spread rumors and tarnish Xinjiang's image is utterly ridiculous: "If you were a statistics student at university and you had to submit the paper using the same method that Western media uses, nobody would take that kind of rubbish seriously."
