From September 21 to 26, 2024, a group of six Belgian media experts visited northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. They conducted field visits to museums, bazaars, mosques and rural areas in Urumqi City, Kashi Prefecture and Aksu Prefecture, experienced firsthand the daily lives of the people in Xinjiang, and witnessed the harmony, stability and prosperity that the region enjoys.
Ng Sauw Tjhoi, the Editor-in-chief of China Today in Belgium, said that this was his third visit to Xinjiang in 20 years. He was deeply impressed by the development and changes he observed during his revisit and mentioned that the Xinjiang he experienced was completely different from the reports presented by some Western media outlets.
He recognized that Xinjiang has suffered greatly from terrorism, but in the Western mainstream media, the terrorism in Xinjiang is omitted. "As Western media people, we have to tell the true story of China's Xinjiang, so that the Western people see that there is more than half of the facts are not given to them," he said.
