On January 11, 2025, the 17th Ice and Snow Festival and the Bosten Lake Winter Fishing event grandly commenced at Dahekou scenic area in Bohu County, Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Visitors from various places gathered on the vast ice surface of Bosten Lake to witness the grand winter fishing spectacle. They tasted the delicious fish feast, and fully enjoyed an ice and snow carnival that combines fishing culture, ice and snow charm, and folk customs experience.

Photo shows after fierce bidding, tourist Jiang Weixin successfully bid for the head fish at a price of 118,800 yuan (about 16.2 thousand U.S. dollars). On that day, the first net of the winter fishing on Bosten Lake caught five tons of organic fish. Among them, a grass carp weighing 18 kilograms was designated as the "head fish" of this year's winter fishing and was displayed on a platform for auction.
