China’s Xinjiang is presenting itself to the outside world without reservation

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporters Mihrigvl Wu) news: On January 18, 2025, the Third Session of the 13th Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened, marking that Xinjiang has officially entered the "two sessions" period. Some foreign diplomats in China, representatives of international organizations, overseas Chinese, and foreign journalists based in Beijing, as well as journalists from China’s Hong Kong and Macao, were invited to sit in on and report on the session, and they visited Urumqi after the opening meeting concluded.

In 2024, international representatives and media outlets had for the first time been invited to sit in on or cover the "two sessions" of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This year, Xinjiang did so again, confidently showcasing itself to the world. Rabbia Nasir, the second secretary of the Embassy of Pakistan in China, who was visiting Xinjiang for the fifth time but attending such a grand event for the first time, expressed that China’s Xinjiang has always welcomed friends from around the world with sincerity and openness. The region's achievements are clear for all to see. She is confident that Xinjiang's future will be even more prosperous and bright.

The exhibition hall showcasing the history of the Xinjiang People's Congress was officially opened on January 15 of this year. It displays over 400 photos and more than 100 valuable historical documents through a combination of text and images, physical displays, and multimedia presentations. Foreign guests walked around, taking photos and listening attentively to the introduction. They noted that Xinjiang, with a people-centered approach, has carried out many effective initiatives. People of all ethnic groups share in the benefits of stability and development, leading to a happier life.

Shallyyev Charymuhammet, the dean of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Institute, said that China's Xinjiang has achieved remarkable accomplishments in all aspects. He noted that during his second visit, he could sense a significant acceleration in Xinjiang's pace of opening up to the outside world. The establishment of the China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone has greatly enhanced Xinjiang's development potential and strategic positioning, and is expected to be a significant catalyst for the region's economic and social high-quality development.

Visiting the Party-mass service center of Lyugu Community, Gaotie Sub-district, Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District), one finds the intangible cultural heritage studio, calligraphy and painting room, and shiliuzi mini-classroom to be clean, bright, and well-equipped. "The community also has a People's Congress liaison station where residents' concerns are heard and problems are solved promptly," said Zhang Huihui, the community's Party secretary, as she detailed the various work initiatives to foreign guests.

At the office of the members from the economic sector and the industrial and commercial federation sector of the Tianshan District Committee of the CPPCC located at the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar in Urumqi, foreign guests learned about the office's role in leveraging sectoral resources and intellectual strengths to address key issues in social governance and public demand. Through on-site negotiations and follow-up supervision, the office has been effective in resolving issues. Tsogtsaikhan Mandakh, the counselor of the Mongolian Embassy in China, praised these efforts as practical and effective ways of serving the people.

Through their experience of sitting in on the “two sessions” and visiting the region firsthand, foreign guests have deeply felt that Xinjiang is presenting itself to the outside world without reservation in every aspect. This allows them to see the true face of Xinjiang, which is stable, prosperous, vibrant, and open with confidence, in a comprehensive and unbiased manner. For these foreign guests, the future of Xinjiang is bright, and it will surely seize new opportunities and make new progress with a more proactive and open attitude.
