Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily(Reporter Lu Fengbao)news: According to the report from the 2025 Comprehensive Transportation Law Enforcement Work Conference held in Urumqi on February 12, 2025, Xinjiang's international road transport saw a year-on-year increase of 114.4 percent and 70.5 percent in passenger volume and freight volume in 2024, respectively.

"The significant growth in passenger and freight volumes last year can be attributed to measures such as the trial implementation of digital customs clearance, the opening of additional international transport routes, and extended customs clearance hours at multiple ports," said Ainwa Niyaz, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's Comprehensive Transportation Law Enforcement Bureau.
Xinjiang's transportation network, which connects the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains, reaches urban and rural areas, and links to multiple countries outside the region, has become an important part of Xinjiang's economic development and a crucial support for foreign trade. The road transport system is rich in application scenarios and connects the world through international routes.
Ainwa Niyaz introduced that in 2024, a trans-Caspian international transport corridor for the China-Europe Railway Express was launched, officially completing the "Fourth Logistics Corridor" between China and Europe. Xinjiang has also promoted the construction of 10 international "Driver's Homes" at ports, continuously improving the level of customs clearance facilitation. By leveraging the 24-hour customs clearance advantage of the Horgos Port and the time-specific characteristics of the Dulata Port, enterprises are guided to flexibly choose customs clearance ports and scientifically arrange the entry and exit of international road transport vehicles. This has significantly improved port clearance efficiency and promoted the development of international road transport.
This year, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's Comprehensive Transportation Law Enforcement Bureau will continue to ensure smooth customs clearance at ports, optimize the inspection process for inbound and outbound vehicles using information technology, and support the service model of "road port + local direct clearance" to facilitate customs clearance at ports. Efforts will also be made to consolidate the achievements of the trans-Caspian international transport corridor for the China-Europe Railway Express and the international road transport route connecting China, Mongolia and Russia on the Asia Highway 4 (AH4), vigorously develop TIR transport (International Road Transport) and China-Europe direct road transport, increase the number of TIR transport vehicles and market share, expand the number of direct road transport routes, and improve the accessibility of international road transport, actively serving Xinjiang's high-level opening up to the outside world.
