Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Cai Zengle) news: As spring approaches, the water plants sway gently at the bottom of the Shuimohe River in Shuimogou Park, Urumqi City, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Flocks of wild ducks play and swim in the water, attracting many visitors to watch and take photos, forming a beautiful picture.

The Shuimohe River is a perennial river in Urumqi City that flows all year round. It originates from the low mountain area on the west side of the Bogda Peak in the Tianshan Mountains. The river stretches over 20 kilometers long and covers a drainage area of more than 280 square kilometers.

In recent years, Urumqi City has continuously increased its efforts in the ecological management of the Shuimohe River. It has fully implemented the river (lake) chief system and adopted measures such as ecological protection and restoration. These efforts have significantly improved the ecological environment of the Shuimohe River, attracting flocks of migratory birds to inhabit and overwinter there. This has created a positive situation of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
