Extensive wildlife footage has been captured at Xinjiang's Baluke Mountain National Nature Reserve, thanks to ongoing monitoring with 40 infrared cameras. Staff members reviewed video data collected since June 2023, on March 14, 2025. These footages record wolves foraging in coordinated packs; Red deer herds moving through forests in groups; Brown bear clinging to tree trunks with comically clumsy postures; Mountain hare leaping agilely under the night sky; A lynx family making a mysterious appearance; Ibexes engaging in fierce horn clashes over territory; Golden eagles gripping prey tightly with sharp talons; Wild argali sheep standing tall atop mountain peaks.
Over the years, the reserve has installed cameras across all management zones, accumulating over 1,100 precious wildlife video records. These recordings document not only species under first-class national protection like golden eagles but also nine species under second-class national protection, including lynx, brown bear, and red deer. By continuously strengthening environmental conservation efforts and expanding habitats for wildlife, Baluke Mountain has become a thriving sanctuary for rare species.
