The flow of entry and exit at Baktu Port increased significantly in the first quarter of 2025

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Si Lulu) news: At around 11 pm on March 25, 2025, as the national gate slowly closed, the last outbound cargo truck loaded with goods entered the Baktu Port in Kazakhstan, marking the end of a busy day at the Baktu Port in Tacheng City, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The Baktu Port is an important window for economic trade and cultural exchanges between China and Central Asian and European countries, with a century-long history of trade. And it was very busy in the first quarter of this year. According to the statistics of the Baktu Entry-exit Border Inspection Station of Xinjiang General Station of Entry-exit Border Inspection, as of March 25, the port had checked and released more than 14,000 entry-exit vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 25.4 percent, and more than 26,000 entry-exit personnel, a year-on-year increase of 69.45 percent.

To address the increasing flow of people and vehicles at the port, the station has continuously enhanced the efficiency of customs clearance for personnel and vehicles through a number of measures, such as deepening reforms, leveraging technology, and fostering collaborative efforts, thus injecting impetus into the high-quality development of the regional economy.

Zeng Hongfeng, the deputy captain of the first team on duty at the Baktu Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station, introduced that nowadays, new energy equipment, engineering vehicles, and bulk commodities, such as fruits and vegetables, have become the main export goods at the Baktu Port, and export trucks can basically achieve quick clearance after arrival. The clearance time has been reduced from the original one hour to 25 minutes, and during peak periods, it can be further compressed to 20 minutes. For large goods such as wind power equipment, the Baktu Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station has opened a "green channel for large equipment" to ensure efficient and rapid customs clearance for ultra-specification goods like wind turbine blades.

Customs clearance facilitation benefits enterprises the most. "Fresh fruits and vegetables have particularly high requirements for customs clearance efficiency. Sometimes, transport trucks cannot exit in time before the border closes, and the border inspection station will open a green channel to extend the customs clearance time, which helps us improve transportation efficiency and reduce product loss," said He Yuanyuan, a staff member of the planning department of Yongli Trading Co., Ltd. in Tacheng City.

Nowadays, China’s Xinjiang is becoming increasingly open to the outside world, with a steady stream of visitors to the Baktu Port. The cross-border one-day tour policy from Baktu Port to the Bakte Port in Kazakhstan is particularly favored by tourists.

On the morning of March 26, Zhao Yunyue, a tourist from Urumqi, followed a tour group to the Baktu Port for a cross-border tour. It was her first time going abroad, and she thought it would be very troublesome, but she was surprised to find that it only took five minutes to complete the exit procedures.

"The police officers even kindly informed us of the precautions after leaving the country. Traveling abroad from Baktu Port is really convenient," said Zhao Yunyue.
