Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Shen Zuxiao) news: From May 8 to 12, 2025, the Gambian journalist’s delegation visited Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Urumqi, and Kashi Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. They went to news organizations, enterprises, villages, and religious sites, engaging deeply with people of all ethnic groups. They experienced firsthand the true state of Xinjiang's social stability, economic growth, cultural prosperity, ethnic unity, and religious harmony, capturing the beauty of Xinjiang through their lenses and words.
During their stay in Urumqi, the delegation visited the Xinjiang Radio and Television Station. They toured the studios, the television translating and editing centers, and the live broadcast studios for Uygur, Kazak, and other ethnic minority languages, and communicated with program producers about the production and editing of ethnic minority language programs.
Mr. Essa Bah, a journalist from West Coast Radio, mentioned that the Xinjiang Radio and Television Station has achieved a high standard in program production, especially in the exploration of news editing and program innovation. He added that they have accumulated many valuable experiences and advanced practices that are well worth learning from.
At noon, the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar was bustling with tourists. The delegation members strolled through it, taking photos as they went.
Ms. Ramatoulai Jallow, an assistant producer from Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS), recorded everything she saw with her phone. When she saw an old artist playing music at a fruit shop, she couldn't help but dance with her companions.
Ms. Jallow said that people in Xinjiang lived happily and were very friendly to each other. She added that she would definitely share her experiences in Xinjiang when she went back. It was her first visit to China’s Xinjiang. She was amazed by the magnificent landscapes and impressed by the warm service at the hotel. The smiling faces in the bazaar made her feel the warmth and hospitality of the people in Xinjiang.
In the Tianshan Grand Canyon located in Urumqi County, the sun was shining, and many tourists enjoyed the comfort and beauty of nature here.
Mr. Ebrima A. Njie, deputy director of the Department of Information Services of the Gambian Ministry of Information, said that Xinjiang is incredibly beautiful and far beyond his imagination. The natural scenery there was breathtaking, and people were very friendly.

In Kashi Prefecture, the delegation visited the investment service hall of the Kashi Area of the China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the duty-free exhibition and sales center of the Kashi Comprehensive Bonded Zone. They learned in detail about the many advantages of Kashi, including its location, policies, resources, and culture. They also observed the logistics intelligent management system of the comprehensive bonded zone and the integrated cross-border e-commerce operation platform of the Kashi Economic Development Zone.
The delegation also enjoyed a photo exhibition themed around the beauty of Kashi. The magnificent landscapes, vibrant development, and happy smiles captured in the photos left a deep impression on them, and they couldn't help but express their admiration.
Early in the morning, in front of the east gate of the ancient city of Kashi, dancers in colorful clothes leaped and spun, presenting a dialogue across time through song and dance. The opening ceremony of the ancient city became an unforgettable memory for the delegation.
Dance is the best language. In front of a homestay, the lively music and passionate dancing attracted tourists to stop and watch. The delegation couldn't help but join in, dancing to the cheerful rhythm and experiencing the passionate and open spirit of Kashi more intuitively.
At the Ancient City Protection and Comprehensive Management Memorial Hall, the tour guide used multimedia means such as architectural technology restoration and scenic spot real-scene shooting to show the delegation the urban renewal project of the ancient city protection and comprehensive management, which started from the people's hearts and was completed with the efforts of the masses. Ms. Fatou Dem, a reporter from Point News Paper, said that she felt the high sense of responsibility and people-oriented approach of the local government. She added that China is truly a great family.
The delegation visited places such as the Tutao (pottery) Village in Yengisar County and the Adil Dawaz Art Inheritance Center, where they experienced pottery making and watched Dawaz performances. They also had in-depth exchanges with craftsmen and artisans.
Mr. Lamin Fadera, a sports program producer and host from Afri Radio, said that China's government fully supports and ensures the protection, inheritance, and development of the traditional culture and arts of all ethnic groups. He added that people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang live in harmony and happiness. Through this visit, he had truly experienced the real situation of Xinjiang being beautiful, harmonious, united, and happy. He would definitely actively share about a real and beautiful Xinjiang to the world after going back, so that more people could understand and visit Xinjiang.
