The Fukang Pumped Storage Power Station is the first of its kind to commence operation in northwest China. Located in Fukang City, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the station comprises an upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water conveyance system, underground powerhouse, and surface switchyard. The construction of the power station began in 2017, with four 300 MW reversible pump-turbine units installed, totaling 1,200 MW in capacity. Connected to the Urumqi-Changji grid via three 220 kV transmission lines, it has an annual designed power generation of 2.41 billion kWh.
