The inaugural "Tianshan" assembled transit freight train departs from NW China's Xinjiang

Shiliuyun-Xinjiang Daily (Reporter Shi Xin) news: On May 20, 2025, the first "Tianshan" assembled transit freight train set off from the China-Europe Railway Express (Urumqi) Assembly Center in the Urumqi International Land Port Area. Carrying 50 containers filled with auto parts, home appliances, and other goods, the train utilized an innovative logistics approach to enable "direct transfer upon arrival." This method boosts delivery speed by 20 percent over conventional transport while cutting costs by 1,713 yuan per container.

In the traditional model, goods arriving at the station yard had to go through unloading, reallocating vehicles, and reloading before shipment, often causing delays and cargo pileups.

The "direct transfer upon arrival" model streamlines this process for China-Europe (Central Asia) freight trains gathered at the Urumqi International Land Port Area. By working closely with China Railway Urumqi Group and Urumqi Customs, it pre-arranges transfer routes and transport plans to enable "single assembly, seamless transfer, and non-stop delivery."

This innovative process significantly reduces transfer time and avoids efficiency losses caused by repeated loading and unloading. It reduces costs by about 1,713 yuan per container by minimizing mechanical operations at stations. It also saves roughly 48 hours by cutting unloading and reloading steps, boosting efficiency by 20 percent over standard freight trains.

Xinjiang International Land Port Company pledged to expand cooperation with customs and railway agencies, implementing the model at major ports throughout Xinjiang to advance the "Xinjiang solution" for the construction of a "golden channel" between Asia and Europe.
