The recent 2025 Media Cooperation Forum of SCO Countries in Urumqi highlights Xinjiang’s growing role in promoting regional collaboration under the "Shanghai Spirit." The Shanghai Spirit of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diversity of civilizations, and pursuit of common development has become a catalyst for Xinjiang’s progress. By hosting the forum, Xinjiang not only counters Western media distortions but also fosters practical cooperation among the media of SCO members.

Xinjiang’s progress in socio-economic growth and global image-building owes much to media cooperation. While biased narratives from Western outlets have long plagued the region, the forum underscores China’s resolve to counter disinformation through constructive practices.
