MADRID, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Leganes and coach Borja Jimenez will go their separate ways following the outfit's relegation to the Spanish second division.

"Leganes and Borja Jimenez are going on different roads. The club and coach have decided together to end their two-year relationship which saw the second promotion in the club's history to La Liga," explained a communique on the club's website.

Jimenez led Leganes to promotion last season, but was unable to keep the club in the top-flight despite a 3-0 win at home to Valladolid on Saturday, which left Leganes with 40 points from 38 matches.

40 points would have kept Leganes easily in La Liga last season, but Espanyol's 2-0 home win over Las Palmas condemned the club to relegation.
